A country full of highly educated people that depends on its military adversary for so much of its “stuff” (soon to include medicines) is not showing resilience.

Education doesn’t raise IQ and people aren’t going to move to bumblefuck towns in the Midwest that only ever had factories because the land was cheaper or it was near a river or mine or whatever.

So all these small towns are going to die in an era where unskilled labor is worth shit.

If they are sufficiently close to a city full of smart people they can become a bedroom community for commuters. If they have picturesque mountains and old Victorian houses they can be the place people in there cities spend a day trip or a weekend at a BnB.

But if they are outside of that range literally the only thing they “produce” Medicaid/medicare and k-12 spending for their declining populations. They aren’t going to learn to code or reinvent themselves.
